I don't know what I can type here that won't read like I'm just stroking my ego, but here goes.

I am a laid-back, T-shirt and jeans kind of guy; casual yet clean-cut. I pride myself on not being a typical male. I listen to my significant other and, yes, talk about my feelings. I try not to get caught up in Alpha Male BS, but I will fight for things worth fighting for.

I believe a relationship should be built on the foundation of friendship. I've tried building that house upside down, and the attempt was an unfortunate failure.

I enjoy being a conversationalist, and I'm looking for my intellectual equal. Yes, I think brains are sexy, and a college diploma isn't the only measure of them.

My spirituality is heavily influenced by Buddhism. I didn't select it in my details because I don't yet practice its structure, but I still respect it rather than laugh about it.

My two big hobbies are trains and cars. My interests, however, compose a much longer list. Camping, card games, architecture, history, computers, photography... the list goes on, and I hope I always continue to dabble.

hi! One of the hardest things to do is write about yourself, but i will give it a try. I'm a pretty happy person, I always try to see the best in things and people. You know, a glass is half full person. I am easy to please, in other words, i'm not a materialistic gal and can find something to eat on any menu(except raw things that really should be cooked...), friendly, talkative, & outgoing. I am most comfortable in jeans and a top/sweater(im usually always cold), or shorts and t-shirts, but if I get the chance to dress up, it's defintiely high heels and low cut dress. I am a fun, creative, out going individual. I love music whether it is playing it, singing it, performing it, or listening. I love creating anything that is possible to create. I consider myself to be very lucky with the family and friends that are in my life, I couldn't have hand chosen any better people. Sports are a big part of my life; playing, watching and coaching. I have played soccer, basketball and volleyball since I was little and volleyball through college. I continue to play and coach volleyball today. About me: I'm honest, but reserved; that is not a contradiction, it just means I don't like talking about certain things with people I don't know well--somethings even with people I do know well. I like modular things, they go with my generally methodical nature.

I tend to be pretty shy in person. Though I can be a nutball around my closest friends...especially when sleep deprived...and over-caffeinated. And lately I've been more confident, I think.

I enjoy going bowling or playing pool, occasionally. I don't have much, or any, interest in going to pools, however, or hanging out at beaches. Just not a water sports person, I guess. Also chlorine irritates my eyes and throat horribly.

Well, what else to say...Um, I don't bite. Most people say I'm a nice, friendly guy; interesting to talk to and whatnot (their words, not mine). I like using archaic speech (and the occasional Japanese word or phrase), whilst typing and in everyday speech (though mostly while IMing). Furthermore, I have no clue what else to put here. *sighs*

I'm not big on meeting people over the internet in person. I actually like meeting people, but I would rather spend some time getting to know said person online, first.

I like anime, especially good anime, and preferably not mainstream (and definitely not dubbed). I do admit to liking some less-than-stellar anime series, of course (every true otaku does). I hate bad anime, though. Some anime is just utterly terrible, and I just can't stand that--kinda degrades the whole genre, if you know what I mean?

Did I mention that I'm very nit-picky? Well, about somethings, anyway. Those things being the things I actually care about. I also tend to over-analyze stuff. Those are a couple of my bigger failings: nit-picking and over-analyzing. If you notice I'm doing either, feel free to tell me. I'm probably doing that right now, aren't I?

These profiles things always freak me out because I don't want to say too much and scare a potential match away, nor do I want to say too little and have you think I'm boring...

I'm 39, but have been told that I don't look or act it. (I hope that's a good thing.) I tend to be interested in women younger than I am, because we get along better - many of my good friends are currently in their late 20's... I'm not into the club scene or fancy restaurants - I'd rather hang out at a neighborhood place, or a friend's house.

I am very outgoing, and will speak my mind no matter who it pisses off. But at the same time I can be the quiet one in a room full of people, just observing. I'm very open minded to almost anything. I don't easily get upset at little things, because being pissed off and emo all the time just isn't attractive at all, by any means. I say "phenomenal" "epic" "fail" "epic fail" and "it happens" quite frequently. I thouroughly enjoy vlasik pickles. I believe that cheating is ridiculous. I also say "ridiculous" often. I have an interesting obsession with alice in wonderland. I always give everyone a fair shot as far as dating/friends/etc. I have a job, a car, a valid license, a brain, and don't live with mommy and daddy. I don't get along well with most other females, because they are crazy/bipolar in most cases. I try and stay away from drama. I have been told I'm way more mature than my age implies.

I am a girl with a lot of interests. I have always been interested in history, in fact, I have a degree in Classics. My favorite ancient society is probably Greece. Other favorite time periods/societies are: Renaissance, Edwardian, 1920's, and the 70's :).

Halloween is my favorite holiday, because I can make a costume and act in character. I also like role-playing games and Renaissance Faires. I am a big fan of the board game, and have a good collection of them. I will also play cards at any given moment.

Holding out for that Teenage Feeling - Neko Case

That song by Neko Case is the essence of the feeling I want to capture. Which got me to thinking how I met women when I was in my teens and early 20's. For starters, I usually met them in person, usually in a class or through friends or at a party. Generally the initial attraction was physical. I didn't know what their favorite movies, music or books where. Whether or not they wanted kids, what career they wanted, how much money they made or wanted to make. What their religion was, whether they had a passport or loved wine and city living. All of that was part of the process and in my recollection it was a fun part of the process of getting to know someone. 99% of the time you found out that the person was not as intriguing as they looked, sometimes you screwed up and let the physical get ahead of the personal.

However, once in a great while that person was more than you expected, became more attractive as you got to know them, the sum of the parts was far more attractive than any of their particular likes or dislikes, or their 10 extra pounds or crooked nose.

This made me realize I wanted to be more open to getting to know people who might not hit on all my interests or "must haves". Possibly I will meet some like minded people who remember how much fun it was getting to know someone, with very little in the way of expectations.

I realize most of us are 20 or so years past the time I recall, but it would be nice if people weren't in such a hurry to judge and move on to the next candidate without getting to know each other.

In the late 1960's, two people, who usually plan everything, had an accident. 3/4 of a year later I was born at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. He responded "Man, like I feel really uncool about leaving you hanging, but if any of the chicks see me with a baby... Wow, can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe you should ask a cop. Things that have happened since.

I wrote a lot of music starting at age eleven, some of which is good. Some of that music got played in night clubs, and even published Richard Pryor and Jimi Hendrix became idols to me. Cliches, including having idols, came to annoy me. I wrote a book the summer after freshman year of college. I worked in medical research. I taught high school and elementary school science. I fell in love late in life, and I think it's a good thing Before that, I grew to a height of six feet and one inch, and to be a somewhat moody person.

Around the time that love went bad, other bad things happened and I felt really bad. An unusually good friend, invited me to come live out here, and renovate houses with him for awhile, and make some new plans.
